This month, we’re spotlighting Gabby Wall, an avid skier whose journey on the slopes began before she turned 3. Hailing from Alpine Ski Club (Blue Mountains, ON), Gabby’s love for skiing quickly blossomed into a competitive spirit, starting her racing journey in the U10 category.

Fast-forward to today, and Gabby’s passion for skiing has taken her on a thrilling ride. Representing Ontario with pride, she’s become a familiar face on the FIS and NorAm circuits, fearlessly tackling challenging courses across Canada, the U.S., and beyond. Most recently, Gabby returned from an unforgettable month in Italy, where she raced, trained, and soaked in the breathtaking beauty of the Dolomites.

Athlete Spotlight: Meet Nick Katrusiak

Nick Katrusiak is a true force on the slopes and a rising star in the world of ski cross. His journey into the world of skiing began at the tender age of 2 and by 9, he was already racing with the Whistler Mountain Ski Club in his hometown of Whistler, BC. As the years went by, Nick’s love for skiing evolved so at 16, he made the bold switch from alpine racing to ski cross. The move took him to the Nakiska Alpine Ski Association, where he continued to hone his skills and grow his passion for the sport.

Athlete Spotlight: Meet Mollie Jepsen

Mollie Jepsen is a Paralympic Champion who has conquered the slopes with finesse. Since the age of 2, she’s been weaving through the snowy landscapes of Blackcomb, ultimately becoming a prominent member of Canada’s Para-Alpine Team.

Mollie’s coaching philosophy is simple but impactful: “Having fun! You’re slow when you aren’t enjoying yourself.” This mantra not only defines her approach but also resonates with the broader skiing community.

Athlete Spotlight: Meet Steph Currie

Steph Currie has an astounding skiing history. She grew up skiing at Osler Bluff Ski Club and then competed as a FIS athlete for a decade, including three years on the Ontario Ski Team, four years at Dartmouth College, and three years back on the Ontario Ski Team. Her other successes include representing Canada at the 2018 World Junior Championships and being recognized as a prospective competitor in the 2022 Beijing Olympics before an untimely injury.

Athlete Spotlight: Meet Mila Plavsic

Mila Plavsic‘s devotion to skiing began at an astonishingly young age; she hopped on her skis and relished the excitement of racing with BC’s Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club from the age of five. Mila’s narrative, nevertheless, is about more than solely physical accomplishment; it is also about giving back and developing the next generation of skiers. During the summer, she gives her time and skills to instruct U14 dryland training for Tyee. Her conviction in the transformative power of coaching and mentorship shines through her commitment to guiding young athletes, and instilling confidence and resilience, which lead to great performance.
